A Wet Fiction: Part 1(2023)
The waters of the River Brent breaches its boundaries, leaking and seeping into the Metroland Cultures Gallery, Kilburn. Prints of news stories and articles describing the harm enacted on the notoriously polluted river populate the gallery but are redressed by the river itself which soaks and dissolves the pages, words and thus ideas, in various forms. Drawing on the etymology of ‘Brent’, aka ‘holy one’, the installation gestures to acts of repair - unfired strings of inscribed clay beads drip with Brent water and eventually dissolve, words whisper under vessels of polluted water, words are dissolved in slippery ceramic vessels, busting out of their containment.
