The Gut of a Place space illi, Seoul, 4-13 April 2025

Exploring the body of a place through touch-based participatory performance-installations

This April, as part of my PhD research I’m returning to my favourite city to create an experimental series of participatory performances as a method of generating intimate knowledge of a place. Four creative workshops will focus on four different methodologies exploring touch as a way of connecting us to the ecology of our bodies, the body of a place and the bodies of each other. Each event will blend interactive installation, ritual and sensory experience and we will explore listening, sound-making, smelling, tasting, collaging, moving and drawing - generating the exhibition as we go.

The four workshops are: Gut-feeling Geographies; The Body of a Drawing; Laughing Materials and Sketching with Smell. With thanks to curator Su-Kyung and the Korean Arts Council for the wonderful invitation.
